The group eventually descended back into Thistletop. After screwing with a couple of Seven Tooth Goblins, the party descended into the ancient ruins beneath the fort. Things had changed since the last time they stepped foot into the ruin. The wall of gold had disappeared and the area was outfitted with torches. The group descended past the former wall and came to three doors. Fender tried to sneak a peak inside and nearly had his head bitten off by some monstrous canine. As it would turn out, Naulia herself was here, along with her faithful hound. Whatever she put off whatever she was doing to deal with the group personally. Twas a short but hectic battle, one that would end with nearly everyone covered in the blood of the hound, and Naulia mortally wounded. Although Tzar tried to fix her up enough to be captured, Be it Lamashtu's or Naulia's will to die at this defeat, as her stomach ruptured open, revealing many monstrous creatures inside of the aasimar. In another one of the rooms, The group finds a ghostly visage of a man reciting something in Thassilonian over and over again. A key found in the room where Naulia was defeated opened another door. The room exuded an extreme magical presence, and with much caution did everyone take to examine it. For some reason, nearly half the room was making things disappear that crossed into it, as evidenced by the arrows being shot in a pattern across the room. Fender decided to figure out what the hell was going on personally, so he donned his Hat of disguise to look like a great cleric or wizard of Sithis. He proclaimed that no harm should come to him and took a step in. Half of his body became invisible to the rest of the group. In a moment, a wave of energy came over the front of the group, everyone but Selene shrugged it off, who became overwrought with tears. Fender rushed out, closing the massive door behind him. The creature responsible for the wave of despair closed on the door, pounding, screaming, crying, heckling. Fender found this somewhat amusing, and took the opportunity to belittle and mock the wolflike beast. Eventually the beast actually broke the door, but as it would seem, he was still trapped inside. It was indeed the once great Malfeshnekor. Palon charged against him with lance in hand, dealing a strong blow. After an ardous battle betwixt the barrier, Malfeshnekor teleported deeper into the room, but was soon flanked and felled. With the threat no longer looming over Sandpoint, the party decided they may as well see what else was down here. They went on to kill the other hounds plaguing this place. They also continued deeper into the ruin, finding a collapsed treasury. There they found a great helm of a giant. Sadly, it had become the home of a Giant Enemy Crab. The party knocked it down, then attacked it's weak point, for massive damage. The Giant Hermit Crab defeated, the party salvaged what treasures they could and left, recombing Thistletop (and finding a secret door thanks to Shalelu) for anything they might have missed.
Back in Sandpoint the had been celebrated as true heroes, and were even guests of honor for the little towns New Years festivities. Free services have been offered by nearly everyone, and everyone was finally able to get some rest. In the confusion of the next few days, Shalelu disappeared, probably already back to her life among the wild of the Hinterlands. Not all would be quiet for the group for long though....
